Register for a Class

Effective April 1, 2023, National Grid requires that ANYONE, including LMP's and their technicians, who intends to perform certain gas covered work on Long Island on jurisdictional gas piping, specifically, Northeast Gas Association Covered Task 87, must be Gas Operator Qualified (GOQ). Task 87 includes: isolating of piping systems, purging of interior piping systems, making piping connections between interior deenergized piping systems and isolated energized piping systems, constructing & repairing meter header assemblies, meter bars, and pressure regulator vent piping assemblies. Jurisdictional piping includes the piping, associated metering and pressure reducing appurtenances from the gas main to the outlet of the customer meter or at the connection to a customer's piping, whichever is further downstream where a meter is located within a building.

Take the Course

Register for PHCC LI Operator Qualification Course. You will learn all about the certification, receive training, and upon completion, you will be ready to take and pass the certification test.

Pass the Test

Once completed and a passing grade has been earned, you will be listed in our database of certified gas workers.

Receive Certification

You are now a qualified National Grid gas worker who holds all needed requirements to be eligible for gas line maintenance and installation.
