President's Message - Summer 2021

Posted July 12, 2021

Dear PHCC Association,

Beginning my third year in a row as President, I am extremely grateful to join the limited five-member club that has served at least three consecutive years as president since the PHCCLI was founded in 1928. Our now National Association President, Hunter Botto, is in a class of his own, having served four consecutive years in addition to two separate terms. In that unique two separate terms class is our now National Secretary Joe Cornetta. I would like to congratulate Hunter and Joe on their dedication, both locally and nationally, to this association. On a State level, I would like to congratulate one of our own, Ronald Doughty, as Second-Vice President, helping us bridge the gap between our State and Local Association.

Hoping to see a light at the end of this global pandemic I would love to see us get back to our roots of in person meetings! Over the last year we have adapted and continued to provide essential services to our local communities even through this horrible pandemic. Our board has been hard at work obtaining and distributing up to date information and education on PPP Loans, OSHA requirements and access to safety equipment to help keep our members working and safe. Unfortunately, our work to get our industry moved up on the COVID-19 vaccine list fell on deaf ears with politicians, but we continued the fight.

Another priority for our board has been working with the three major Towns (Town of North Hempstead, Town of Hempstead, and Town of Oyster Bay) to upgrade the Tri-Town agreement. Our members of this Association deserve to be able to work legally throughout the three Towns regardless of where they live or base their business on Long Island. We will continue to pursue this in the upcoming year.

Getting involved with the PHCCLI during these trying times is difficult but something that is deeply needed. I can’t say it enough that there is strength in numbers and the PHCCLI is an organization we want people to know to show consumers that we are the best trained and respected plumbing, heating and cooling contractors available.

Look through the National’s “who’s who” book for information on all topics for you and your business such as networking, webinars and so much more. The resources are right at your fingertips; you don’t need to go at it alone. Reach out to our Associate Members with technical questions. They are always there to help educate us on their products.

Please be well and safe. We are here for you!!

Donald Conway
President, PHCCLI
