PHCC of Long Island Leadership Making a Difference on Capitol Hill

At the recent 2019 PHCC Legislative Conference on Capitol Hill (Washington, DC) PHCC of Long Island leaders (Joe Cornetta and Hunter Botto...along with other leaders at PHCC) met with US Congressman Glenn Thompson (R-PA) to encourage his support of critical legislation that would expand Association Health Plans.  The result of the meeting - Congressman Thompson is now a cosponsor of the legislation!  Congressman Thompson is a senior member of the US House of Representatives and serves as Co-Chairman of the US House of Representatives Congressional Career and Technical Education Caucus.

The legislation (HR 2294 - "Association Health Plans Act of 2019) supports the Trump Administration's finalized rule that would make it easier for small businesses to join together to create low cost health care plans for small businesses that aren't subject to certain requirements of the Affordable Care Act.  Efforts to expand AHPs has stagnated due to a DC Circuit siding with 11 states and the District of Columbia - arguing that the finalized rule is unlawful.
